Success is determined by the right aptitude and attitude. Paromita Sen, a systems analyst working with the Ministry of Health, New Zealand, lives by this motto. Today, she recounts her journey to a flourishing career in IT.

Paromita pursued Political Science (hons.) from Delhi University. Contemplating a career in IFS, IT happened by chance. Paromita sat for the Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarship exam of NIIT and availed a 50% scholarship on the GNIIT programme. 2 years of training in IT was enough to help her decide that is what she wanted to pursue for her career.

At NIIT:
Paromita remembers her 3 years of GNIIT as ones full of competitions and a lot of fun with friends. Amiable and approachable faculty not only made learning easy but also very enjoyable. Competition amongst batch-mates during machine room exercises were looked forward to and kept them on their toes.

Benefits of GNIIT:
The biggest advantage that GNIIT offers is Dual Qualification. This means that you can pursue the programme along with college. The following highlights of GNIIT ensure you are a job- ready professional from day one.

  • Professional Practice: A one year of internship at a company equips a student with practical experience before he gets his final placement. “One year of PP teaches you more than 2 years of classroom study.”
  • GNIIT makes you a Professional: The GNIIT programme ensures that students leave NIIT as complete professionals. ISAS projects require students to research and find information about a particular project and then share the findings in the class. This helps to build confidence, improves presentation skills and research and analytics capability.

Mentoring young India
Paromita believes that hard work and passion takes people places. “You always need to keep yourself updated about what’s happening in IT. The field is so dynamic that new technologies come into play almost every day. Dream big and work towards converting your dreams and you can accomplish anything in this field.”
